CFAR September Update

Tansi to you, our Members and Friends.

Thank you to all who were able to attend our first-ever virtual AGM on September 16 via Zoom, to provide your continuing support for CFAR. Your presence and contributions are very much appreciated.

We would like to welcome our newest Board Members:

  • Craig Van Dongen
  • Sandra Sutter

Our Returning Board Members Include:

  • Andrea McLandress
  • Janel McLaren
  • Lorne Ternes
  • Dr. Patricia Makokis
  • Regan Smith
  • Richard Piché
  • Scott McLeod
  • Todd Pruden

The new Executive Team includes President Sandra Sutter, Vice President Scott Mcleod, Treasurer Andrea McLandress and Secretary Regan Smith.

We would like to thank the following exiting Board Members for their service and many contributions to CFAR.  They will continue in an advisory role with CFAR:

  • Connie Landry (Vice President most recently, and Secretary prior to that)
  • Jorge Aviles (Director)
  • Steve Saddleback (Past President)
  • Tim Heins (Treasurer)
  • Todd Belot (Past President)

We are in such a great place, all things considered.  We are excited to get started on our plans to make Building Relatives, our new Strategic Plan, come to life.

We are truly honoured to be able to follow in the footsteps of a group of individuals who believe in what is possible for the relationships among First Nations, Métis, Inuit, Native American and non-indigenous communities, companies, governments and people.

We are grateful for your continued interest in and contributions to the Circle for Aboriginal Relations Society, and look forward to working together with you as we head into the new uncharted territories before us.

While this is a brief update about CFAR activities, I also want to take this opportunity to remind us all to wear our orange shirts on September 30 for Orange Shirt Day – to honor the children who survived the Indian Residential Schools, and remember those that didn’t.

Have a great week!

Maureen
